The World RX of Türkiye, the final round of the 2024 FIA World Rallycross Championship, delivered spectacular action at Istanbul Park, organized by the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED).
Supported by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Spor Toto, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and Tuzla Municipality, the event offered fans unforgettable moments on the revamped asphalt-and-gravel circuit.
In Saturday’s opening races of the “Battle of Technologies,” where electric and combustion-powered cars went head-to-head, Ole Christian Veiby claimed victory, with Niclas Grönholm finishing second and Kevin Hansen completing the podium in third.
The second day of the event began with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem at 09:05, marking the 86th anniversary of the passing of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Despite the heavy rain that made the track extremely challenging, fans packed the grandstands to witness intense door-to-door battles and spectacular drift shows. Juha Rytkönen took the win in Sunday’s race, followed by Johan Kristofferson in second and Timmy Hansen in third.
Concluding Istanbul Park’s first World Rallycross event since 2015, Swedish driver Johan Kristofferson secured his seventh World Rallycross Championship title, receiving his trophy from TOSFED President Eren Üçlertoprağı.
