After a protocol signed between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the full operational responsibility of Istanbul Park, the largest sports facility in the history of the Republic, has been handed over to the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED), while the ownership of the circuit remains with the state.
The new era under TOSFED’s management was announced on Monday, June 16, at a press conference held at Istanbul Park by TOSFED President Eren Üçlertoprağı. The event was attended by TOSFED Vice President Nisa Ersoy, Deputy Presidents Faruk Süren, Cemil Onur Sürmeli and Beyza Avcıoğlu, along with board members and more than 100 media representatives.
In his remarks, President Üçlertoprağı recalled that the valuable facility, built 20 years ago, had long remained underutilized. He emphasized that, thanks to the dedicated efforts of TOSFED’s leadership, this new era has begun, with the Federation’s sole priority being the public interest — ensuring that Türkiye’s only international racing circuit operates in a way that benefits motorsport, the public and the country through sports tourism.
Highlighting that a comprehensive renovation of the track will be the first step, Üçlertoprağı said:
“Within the framework of our mission to expand and develop motorsports, we plan to organize international and national competitions at various levels, conduct training programs for our athletes, hold driving education courses and social responsibility projects, and, through collaborations with automotive and related industry companies, transform Istanbul Park into the hub of motorsport and automotive events in Türkiye. In addition, one of our main goals is to build an international-standard karting track within the facility.”
Üçlertoprağı concluded his remarks with gratitude:
“This new chapter marks a milestone for our sport. We extend our deepest thanks to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; to our Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Aşkın Bak, who has always provided great opportunities for our sport; to our Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who trusted us with such a valuable facility; and to all the officials of both Ministries who made this possible.”
